Yesterday I spent waaaay too much time trying to load or download or even just get online at my hotel. When I finally gave up in disgust (well, it was either that or toss the laptops out the window into the pool (yes, our room overlooks the hotel pool) and went out with PITA, the desk clerk informed me that the entire hotel was down and the technicians were working on it. phooey for modern technology! Remember, though, that I continued to tweet all day.
So we headed downtown to The Strand, one of the largest bookstores in the world I believe and honestly? A little too large for me to browse (and you know I loves me my books). The selection of new and used books gets overwhelming after a bit, so I took a few shots of books to check out of my library, bought two (I’m getting low on my vacay reading) and some neat refrigerator magnets.
Then off to the East Village Cheese shop where all my cheese dreams and fantasies come true. It’s my yearly pilgrimage and one I adore. Luckily my hotel room has a refrigerator so no cheesy worries. Picked up a baguette and enjoyed late lunch in the park. Grabbed the subway back updown since the temperatures have all been in the muggy 90’s this week.
This holistic pet shop was across the street from the cheese shop – several stores wide. There are lots and lots of people out walking their pets, so obviously this is a lucrative business. Well, in New York City, at least!
Later PITA treated us to a mani/pedi, since there wasn’t anything we wanted to grab on Broadway (well, through the discount site, that is!) Stopped for ice cream from a truck – I ate mine, but PITA’s ended up eating her! Told her you have to eat really fast in the heat.

Walked around a bit longer, but after BloggerBash’s last day Rock the Vote cruise and all the dancing and jumping (well, don’t you always jump when I will Survive comes on?), our legs and feet were not doing the happy dance, so we grabbed some pizza for a buck a slice – beat that Costco!
