I like to play around with different salts and peppers and have found that always seems to fill the bill for less. Not that long ago, MUM was preparing a recipe that called for Fleur De Sel. Comment to me: “Who would have that in their pantry”…i do along with the other varieties.
If you’ve never cooked with Applewood Smoked Salt, omg! It’s exactly like adding bacon to everything! I know there are other spice vendors out there – you’ve told me in the past about your favorites – but try out (heck, they have a 100% satisfaction guarantee and you get free and fast shipping, so what’s not to like).
FYI, I placed this order on Memorial Day and it came with today’s mail.
I have been using the applewood smoked sea salt
for a long time. It is fabulous in potato packets on the grill- add small chunks of onion, oils and cracked pepper-
then put over indirect heat. They take about 45 minutes. If you put the onions into too small a pieces they
tend to vaporize; flavor is there but no wonderful
onion chunks.
Oooh, that sounds yummy! Something to try if the weather ever allows grilling without umbrellas and winter coats.
