Walmart has a couple of the Honeywell top fill humidifiers on clearance – this black one is only $60.  Bought this model in white at the beginning of last winter and couldn’t be happier.  Quiet, large enough reservoir that you don’t need to check every couple of hours and a tap of a button gives you a soft nightlight.  Make sure you buy plenty of filters now because mid-way through winter they switched to friggin’ spring stuff!
