Wags we love you

Accompanied a nervous friend/reader to the Wheaton store to pick up her pre-ordered Almay.  While she was running her fifty, I decided to pick up some “stuff” that looked good and free.  I ran two transactions, exactly the same:  One Huggies 184 pack refill; 4 Air Wick spray things; 4 Reach toothbrushes.  The Huggies are on sale for $5.99, so used the $2/1 Wags coupon in the Infant book and a $5 coupon I received from Kimberly-Clark for screwing me out of my Jewel gc (overage was applied to the Air Wicks); 4 $3/1 Air Wick Compact Freshmatic coupons (2/20 r) and 4 Reach toothbrushes (10/10 r).

Each total was $2.55, of which $2.22 was high tax.  Got back two $4 RRs for the Reach.

  1. I posted a bit under the Lisle Wags entry, but then decided it’s more appropriate for this entry, ’cause I LOVE Wheaton Wags. I travelled to Wheaton from south of Joliet yesterday because I really wanted to run a deal that was hassle-free, and this was! From the moment I walked into the store until the moment I left (over an hour later!) I was really treated well. I met Rick (asst. mgr?) – who actually looked happy! Oh, and the young lady who rang me up was so sweet! She hadn’t done any Almay transactions yet, and of course the coupon(s) beeped. But, she very calmly worked it until we found the solution for no beeps! I ran 100 transactions of the towelettes, and OOP was $.54/ea or $54.00. $35 of that was darn tax! So, my total costs were $54 for product, ~$17 for Q’s, oh and let’s say $20 for my gas-guzzling machine. The whole deal took about 3 hours of my time, including travel. So we have $500 – $54- $17 -$20 = net gain $409 for my 3 hours, or $136/hour!!!! Woo-hoo!
    Off to do some shopping!…..
Oh and thank you “deranged me”, and thanks to Steve, Rick, and the Wheaton Wags team for “getting it”! I would gladly do it again – the store number is stored in my cell 🙂

  2. Had to chuckle that you too got screwed by the Kimberly Clark/Jewel. I’m not making fun of you, because it actually made a beginner like me not feel so bad that it happened to me.
I didn’t get the $5 coupon I got a sheet of what Kimberly Clark described as ”
$17 worth of valuable coupons”. Seeing that I don’t use baby products, this was not how I viewed the coupons. So, I called them up to complain and asked for my gift card. Like everyone else I got the pat answer of “sorry, we ran out”. Grrr!!!
I asked for them to return my receipts so I could return the overpriced toilet paper I had bought to meet the eligibility requirements. It took several calls, and emails but I did get my receipts back.
So yesterday, I returned the items, then went and 4 packages for a little less than what I had paid for the original ones. YAY! The whole ordeal was a huge pain, and took work, but I’m proud that I came out ahead and am getting the hang of it!

    • Actually, there is more to this KC story. One card sent in my DH’s name to my in-laws house (in Chicago) and showed up March 14! The carrier left a certified mail form, which in-laws never bothered to retrieve or even tell DH about, so the 19th was the final notice (come on, only 5 days?). I got the form on Saturday and immediately went online to the post office and attempted to redirect it to my address. We’ll see what happens. So far I’m batting 1 out of 5 (20%). ratbastards

By the way, I got four $5 coupons, but I’d rather have the gift cards!
