I posted this deal back on August 28: Target had the free Bag of Beauty – site was very slow to load – and I completely forgot about it. The product samples were all neatly put in the bag. This is probably the only time I’ve actually had to wait the six weeks sites claim…but hey, it’s free.

It’s the New Internet Marketing plan….
Step 1: tell people a freebie is coming, generate buzz
Step 2: cheap out on a capacity plan and reject all talk from the tech weenies about a private cloud or elastic demand compute contract
Step 3: open the floodgates.
Step 4: ride the buzz wave
Step 5: servers fall down go boom
Step 6: how could this happen?! Fire the tech weenies.
Step 7: mail out freebies. Generate new buzz wave by surprising us that it worked!
Cynical, awesome and, sadly, probably true. Sad because this is a huge corporation (Target) not the mom/pop store who signs up with livingsocial or Groupon and ignores their advice about setting limits.
