I picked up two packs of the Durcell 16 ct AA and AAA batteries (that’s the limit per card) for $9.99 each with 100% rewards this week. Used the $5 store credit I got in an email last week (make sure you check your junk/spam mail) and two of the .75 coupons from today’s P&G. Paid slightly over $14 and will get back $19.98 in Rewards. If anyone you know (or where you work) is tossing empty ink cartridges, you can get back $2 per cartridge, for a total of ten per month (so $20 for nothing). It’s issued as a Reward that you can use on anything in the store.
I was about to do this, but then thought what the hell am I gonna do with $28 in Staples money? Sure, I could find some things to buy there, but such high prices. So if I went and bought $28 of stuff that I could have gotten at Walmart for $15, I just wasted $13. So really it’d be like $13 for those batteries. That’s how I look at things.
I am getting back almost twenty dollars (not $28, where did you come up with that number?) when I only spent $14. And you use the Rewards to roll into other stuff you see with deals, like reams of paper. I don’t SHOP there, Justin, I get stuff there when it’s free after Rewards, then use other rewards to pay for it. I have a friend who takes in printer cartridges from work all the time – she gets $20 in Rewards every month (per card – hehehehehe).
$14 x 2 = $28. You get 2, right? I mean that makes the most sense, get 1 AA and 1 AAA. The OOP is $28 + tax, and you get back $28 in rewards, correct? Well just like any place, that’s $28 I have to come back and spend. Now if you have a system down where you are buying anything that’s free there, and roll the rewards repeatedly, etc., that might work, but I’m looking for stuff I’d actually want, and don’t want to have to go back. When do they expire? If they don’t expire, well then OK.
Justin, read the damned post again! I bought two at 9.98 each. Used two .75 coupons from today’s P&G and the $5 email coupon I posted about last week. I paid $14.98 plus high tax and will get back almost twenty bucks. So take the twenty bucks in Rewards money and buy stuff on sale for $20 (with Rewards back of course) and you’ll be ahead of the game, because your batteries are now free. Even if you got them for $10 at Walmart, you are still only getting the batteries, not the Rewards money, which you should only use on the sale/rewards items. Rather like rolling ecbs at CVS.
Wait how are you getting back $20 for spending $14? I thought the batteries were $14 with $14 back?
You won’t get back the $5.00 store coupon. Staples Rewards come back after store coupons, so you’ll only get $14.98 credit.
Good lord! I’m getting as many comments as a giveaway. Justin, the batteries are 10 bucks each. Rachel’s right that I won’t get the $5 store coupon I got via email, but I’m still getting them free with 1.50 cash back from the mfr coupons.
but did you account for the Quinn tax? Wish this had smileys also
:tapping:
Oh, I thought it was $14 for the batteries, and you get $14 back. I could have just read the post again to fix that thought…
Isn’t this where everyone gets their ink??? I always ‘buy’ the batteries, return EVERYONE’S cartridges and never have to pay for ink, paper, sticky notes, pens… etc. We go through batteries this time of year with the WII kicking up, since the weather is sending us indoors.
And I competely spewed my coffee reading the comments! I love you guys!
