Ruminations

Rambling thoughts throughout a day:

Another storm brewing on the selling items from your stockpile forum board on Jill Cataldo.  This is based on a throwaway comment Mashupmom made on WGN Monday morning.  My take on this?  Once people buy an item, it becomes theirs to do with as they choose:  use, donate, sell.  If you want to donate, fine, just don’t be so damned sanctimonious about it.  I honestly don’t care how wonderful a person you are, how much you donate to whatever charity/shelter/food pantry you pick.  Wait for your reward in heaven (if that’s in your belief system), don’t expect me to polish your halo.  I also feel the same way about people who recently started couponing and complain about the “shelf clearers” taking everything (rather than just one or two items) resulting in their inability to get products for their family.  Put your big girl (boy) panties on, get out to the stores earlier and stop whining!  grrrrr.  end of this rant but stay tuned for more

  1. I laughed at this discussion — Jill claims on the website that she doesn’t approve of selling stockpile. But in early Super-Couponing (TM) classes, she taught with a friend. That friend advocated selling things, even the freezer from the Jewel freezer deal every February. This friend gets brought up every once in awhile on Jill’s site and Jill censors (deletes) the comments about this.

Oh, and waaaay back then, she trashed restaurant.com and said she wouldn’t recommend them as the certificates were too difficult to redeem and she’d had a bad experience or two. I noticed that her tune on that changed when restaurant.com dangled some advertising dollars on her blog. heh.

I can’t fault her — we’re all human, we all make mistakes, and we all want a little extra cash. But I do snicker at her attitude.
