rent for $150 or pay $1500?

Okay, you got me:  I am not a fashionista, or even remotely close to one.  There is a reason this site is called deranged.me you know.  So when I got this email for RentTheRunway I was, shall we kindly say, skeptical.  But I clicked on it and was majorly impressed.  I’m sure most of you have special occasions where people actually send invitations requesting your presence…right?  Buying a fancy-pants dress – even from a resale shop – is costly.  And let’s face it, where are you gonna wear it next?

Enter RentTheRunway, where you sign up FOR FREE (none of those expensive/exclusive membership places) and rent a designer dress for four or eight days.  They even send the dress in a back up size – just in case.  I checked out some of the dresses (in the name of research and dedication to my readers ) and listened to testimonials and I’m majorly impressed.  This is something that makes total sense to me.  If I can spend $150 for a $5000 dress that will blow the socks off the competition (take that, Bridezilla!), then it’s worth it.  And if I change my mind within 24 hours and haven’t worn the dress, it’s completely free.
