Just spent the past couple of hours tossing expired inserts – must have been a bazillion that expired 9/30! The large recycling container is now half-full; it was empty when PITA and I started.
The easiest way to know what’s good and what should be tossed is to use that handy-dandy coupon checker on the right sidebar. You click on the month and then the date and you’ll see all the inserts from that date marked with either a red X or a green check. It will also tell you the expiration date of the coupon, so what I’m now doing is writing that on the front).

You know, another idea, that saves you room in your bin as well, is to recycle it at a private school that has the large green and yellow bins that gives the school money per pound recycled. Then those coupons have one last chance to make some money ! Not sure, but I think some public schools have these as well.
Whoa! Wait a minute! A new paper recycling dumpster just appeared in the library parking lot and I joked with PITA that we were gonna have to start diving! Excellent suggestion and I’ll make a note to call tomorrow and ask if the library gets paid anything.
Thanks for the reminder and your nifty insert checker tool on your website!
I usually use the expired coupon inserts to line the bottom of my bird’s cage. It looks wonky, but the poops gotta go somewhere right? 🙂
just make sure no cat food ads are facing the bird–might make him a little nervous.
