I’ve wanted to post about this problem, but had heard some sites threatened legal action against blogs, so I basically laid low and didn’t post them. But since MUM has run with this, I’m gonna grab on her coattails (and share her lawyer – kidding!).
SaveMore – I stopped posting and then went back and deactivated all links back to August. Heard stories from people who either did not get their orders or something was wrong. A reader told me that he couldn’t unsubscribe to their emails without losing all his credits. Since they didn’t have any deals that only allow site credit, who cared? I tried to use site credit for a purchase a few weeks ago that specifically said it was allowed – – not only wouldn’t the deal go through, it kept asking for credit card information. I was alarmed enough to delete all CC info. Phoned customer service where I was on hold for 25 minutes before getting the “leave a message” comment: Still waiting on that callback…
Another one that appears problematic is nomorerack. I’ve gotten emails from people who never got their merchandise and/or no contact issues. Nothing personal to report, but it’s not worth taking chances.
One I used to push heavily was ShopAtHome. I used it myself and thought it was a wonderful way to get extra cash back. A few months ago they started making changes – not for the better, either. I’ve warned you about toolbars, haven’t I? Their’s was particularly insidious, redirecting you to their own links. And their own links? Rachel showed me a partial list of sites they own, all somehow including “coupon” and “deal” words in them, so you’d think you were landing on some great couponing sites (lots and lots of diaper sites btw), but instead they were all “sign up for these great future deals”. Not my definition of kosher.
So now all the above are out, unless and until they change (highly unlikely, given the track record on some of these sites). Even then, I’m going to wait a bit before posting – fool me once…
Yep….never got my savemore…..
Crap, I hate to hear that and it really, really pisses me off, especially when a formerly good site reverses direction so completely.
Never got my savemore stuff either. Good riddence!
I use ebates…. and for those that have a subscription to Allure magazine, you can use Allurerewards.com. Never had a problem with either one, and have used both for years.
ebates is good, I’ve posted links with them in the past. No info on Allurerewards. RetailMeNot is a newer one that seems pretty straightforward – that’s why I have the online codes page for them. No weird links, you just go where you want.
My first transaction with save more went smoothly. (CVS gift card). The second, Auto Zone gift card is not going as smoothly, but, I’ll give it another week. Their communication is absolutely poor. Their phone numbers run fast busy signals pretty much all the time. I was able to get an e-mail through using help at save more dot com. They responded quickly. I don’t believe I’ll use them again and will delete credit card information after I see what happens with the Auto Zone Gift Card.
I haven’t received my bottles from that bottle deal a while ago. I called the company and there and left a message. I contacted save more via email and they just refunded my $4. I didn’t expect to see that money but I am glad you posted this.
Thanks!
