National Cinema Day – $3 tkts

According to an article in the Washington Post, “moviegoers across the country will have the chance to see a film for $3 at their local theater next weekend in an inaugural event dubbed “National Cinema Day” as the industry attempts to climb back to its pre-pandemic success.

No matter the time of day or the film format, on Sept. 3 people will pay just $3 (not including taxes or fees) to see a movie on the silver screen. That is according to an announcement Sunday from the Cinema Foundation, a nonprofit arm of the National Association of Theatre Owners.”

I checked and there are a TON of theaters around here included – actually most of the 41,000 screens in the US are participating.

money-maker CORE bars @ Jewel

Refrigerated Core bars are 5/$5 at Jewel this week and there’s a $2.50/2 Ibotta rebate!  You can also scan the receipt for 25 points from Fetch Rewards.  I bought two of the peanut butter/chocolate variety so I can pretend candy is a health food.

Had to stop at Jewel anyway for expiring Rewards.  Saw a longtime cashier who asked how we were all doing since she hadn’t seen us in some time – Amazon Fresh, baby!  Likes stores with cashiers and I assured her Amazon Fresh had them (I mean, Jewel on a Saturday only had two working).  She said she prefers Mariano’s … Jewel engenders such strong loyalty 🙂

Dollar Tree – u could pay more, but why?

On Fridays and Mondays the Glen Ellyn Dollar Tree on Park/Roosevelt in the Jewel plaza gets bakery deliveries, which means Brownberry Oven, Sara Lee, Thomas brand and more for only $1.25 – can’t beat that with a stick. I remove the cardboard from muffin packs and combine two into one and then freeze so a bad delivery week doesn’t impact us.  Check around because I’ve seen bread delivery at many, but not all, stores.
