Goldstar: An American Story (Lincoln’s last day)

Chicago favorite Hershey Felder (George Gershwin Alone, Maestro: Leonard Bernstein) returns with his newest theatrical creation, An American Story, performed with a live orchestra. With an original book and score by Felder based on the music of Stephen Foster, An American Story follows Dr. Charles Augustus Leale, the 23-year-old Union Army medic who was the first person to reach the Presidential box at Ford’s Theatre on the night Abraham Lincoln was assassinated, only to be put in charge of the President by Mrs. Lincoln herself. Set in New York City in 1932, the 90-year-old Dr. Leale looks back on the day that changed his life and American history forever in this stunning and culturally significant new work.

Sounds interesting.  Others must agree because four March performances are already sold out.
