PSA – update your OS!

It’s one of those annoying things we’re required to do on a regular basis…yet keep putting off, right? I just tried to install my tax program, only to find out that I’m behind the curve enough that I can’t install it!

If you’re like me (scary thought, that), here’s a link for iTune Mountain Lion upgrade.  If you haven’t even gotten that far, here’s the iTune Lion link.

If you’re looking to upgrade to the latest OS, that’s OS X Yosemite and the upgrade is free from Mountain Lion (at least).

If you’re not running a Mac, then I can’t help you, but please, please, upgrade.

PSA: Keurig Mini-plus recall – – 7 million!

801e78d749941332690f6a7067004ca5(Reuters) – Keurig Green Mountain Inc said on Tuesday it was recalling about 7.2 million single-serve brewing machines because they could overheat and spray hot liquids on users.

The recall is for Keurig’s Mini Plus brewers that were made between 2009 and 2014. Keurig received about 200 reports of hot liquid spraying from the brewer, including 90 reports of burn-related injuries.

Keurig’s shares fell 2.2 percent to $136.77 in afternoon trading. The recall comes as the company tries to roll out new brewers and expand beyond the single-serve coffee business.

It’s the revenge of the full-pot brigade…

Cyber Monday Sale on Rooibee teas

UntitledThis was one of the booths at the blogging convention I attended last year in NYC.  Very, very fine taste and all organic.  They sent an email today with a special 50% off promotion – only today – on ALL their products!  I checked Amazon and it’s insanely expensive over on the river!

I’m not getting paid for pushing any of this, but if you’re looking for a really nice, high-quality tea, check out all their varieties.  At 50% off (even with shipping), it’s a steal!

I was almost ashamed of myself for standing there with my paper cup for refills…almost

PSA: Paper shortage?

Apparently the Chicago Tribune doesn’t want to sell newspapers (well, that’s pretty much a given, looking at their horrible track record) – some of the Dollar Trees were shorted – – as in nothing delivered — on their Saturday deliveries of Sunday papers.  Wonder if anything will appear tomorrow.

This Sunday’s paper has the December P&G, so it’s not like they wouldn’t sell.

PSA: Truvia class action lawsuit settlement

en_product_80packetsCargill has agreed to pay claims for persons who purchased their Truvia sweetener.  They are offering either free product vouchers or cash. Here’s the link to the main page of the Settlement.  Here’s also the link to the August 10, 2012 deranged.me post, which had Jewel paying us to shop for a very expensive sweetener!  I bought at least 36 boxes.

“Under the proposed settlement, all persons who from July 1, 2008 through July 24, 2014 (the “Class Period”) resided in the United States and purchased in the United States any of the Truvia Consumer Products for their household use or personal consumption and not for resale are potential class members may be entitled to participate in a proposed class action settlement.”

This Settlement is the result of two lawsuits filed that challenge the labeling and marketing of Cargill’s Truvia Natural Sweetener products as natural products.

PSA: Home Depot credit breach

If you’re starting to think that the only store that hasn’t yet reported a credit breach is Dominicks, you’d probably be right!  Today’s news comes in the form of a massive hack at Home Depot, possibly stretching back to May!  Here’s the entire story from CNN.

My favorite part of the article is the link to the CNN’s What Hackers Know About You, based on where and when you shopped.

Walgreens database crashes during upgrade – no Rx @ 8200 stores

Walgreen Co.’s pharmacy database crashed and remained down for several hours on Friday morning, blocking customers from filling prescriptions.

The Deerfield-based drugstore chain said the systems were restored at all of Walgreen’s 8,200 pharmacies by 1 p.m., said Jim Graham a spokesman.

The outage, which affected all Walgreens pharmacies across the country, occurred during a routine database update that went awry, requiring the entire system to shut down, Graham said. To read the entire article from the Chicago Tribune, click here.

Hahahahahahahaha…must be the same people doing the register upgrades…

PSA: Walgreens new RR wording

Been much talk about the new wording on the RRs:  Save $XX Off your Next In Store Purchase Over the value of Coupon.  People were thinking that if the RR were for, say $4, you would have to have at least a $4 item to use the RR.  That’s why there were so many glitches lately at Walgreens…or so the story went.

Balderdash!  Ever since Walgreens went to the cards and “upgraded” their registers to prevent impulse purchases and take control away from the managers, they’ve had a total clusterf**k there.  I figured the wording change was to prevent any employee from reducing the value to match a sale price (usually by a penny, right?).  Just got back from Walgreens where I rolled my $3 L’Oreal RRs into $4 P&G RRs on the Crest toothpaste and mouthwash deal:  Each set of two was $6, less the $3 RR and two $1 coupons (for rinse) plus a .13 pencil.  Paid $1.57 and got a $4 RR and 300 loyalty points.

Now let’s hope there’s something to buy in the next two weeks.
