DH made a Blurb book a couple of years ago as a 50th anniversary present for dear friends and former neighbors Between the time the order was placed and the date of receipt (two weeks?), they experienced a total house fire and lost everything. You just couldn’t imagine the emotions this book brought to the surface…
Blurb has always been a great way for people to make books about the things that interest them. And while you’ve always been able to sell books through the Blurb website, you can now sell the books you make on Amazon! Your work on the world’s biggest marketplace!
Here’s an excerpt from an interview with Donna Boyer, Blurb’s Chief Product Officer, on how the whole thing works:
What’s the most exciting thing about authors being able to sell their books through Amazon.com?
Setting up Blurb books to be available on Amazon.com couldn’t be easier. Once authors have uploaded their book to their Blurb account, they simply go to their Book Details page to select “Amazon” under the “Sell my book” options. That’s it. Once authors provide their info to get paid, Blurb handles the rest.
Once an author submits their book, it will be available for sale on Amazon.com within about seven days. Authors should plan to market their book to their network in order to drive reviews and sales rankings on Amazon, which can then lead to organic sales from new readers. It’s important for authors to remember that Amazon adds a fee for selling through Amazon.com, so the list price will need to be higher in order to make the same profit as a book sold directly via the Blurb platform.
Selling through Amazon.com is quite the game changer—can authors list their books on Amazon.com if they’ve already published them through Blurb?
Absolutely. Any existing photo paper book is eligible for distribution on Amazon.
What are the biggest reason Blurb authors will want to take advantage of Amazon.com distribution?
A big benefit of Amazon is that it gives authors a new opportunity to expand their audience beyond their current network.

If you, or someone you love, listened to New York punk and new wave in the 70s, chances are your favorite artist can be found in this book. If you order printed books with all your Thanksgiving pictures, you can have them in time for Christmas! Blurb allows you to use your Facebook and Instagram pictures to build your books. This is the easy-peasy way to look creative (finished products look like you’re a professional book maker … or was that bookie).
These Chicken Soup books are immensely popular – I’ve seen them at garage sales, book stores, library shelves … for everyone up to and including the family dog (mebbe). But now Blurb has a offer for a customized Chicken Soup for the Soul because you never know what to give some people – how do you give something totally them when they already have everything?
These personalized “Chicken Soup for the Soul” books are a great way to do it. Not only do you get to choose from five different story themes (from “Christmas Stories” to “Giving Thanks”), you can personalize it in ways you just can’t with a conventional book. As the title suggests, these are stories meant to comfort and heal.
Your custom “Chicken Soup for the Soul” book will truly be a book for them because the book is printed with their name on the cover, as the recipient. And it’s truly from you because your name is printed on the cover as the giver. You can also include an inscription inside the book and on the back cover or add a photo to the back.
Choose other options, too, like the type of cover and paper. It takes about five minutes to make it a truly custom book; a 60-page book starts at just $24.95 (they also offer a 120-page version).
There’s a quick video here: Chicken Soup for the Soul that shows you how to fill in all the info using a simple online tool. The books are all done by Blurb, so you know the quality will be great. DH made a memory book last year of old photos for friends that was very, very nicely done – easy to do online, too.
