The days of cutting out those little Box Tops for Education coupons from cereal boxes and other packaged grocery products are coming to an end. The General Mills-run program, which allows you to help earn money for your local school, is going digital-only.

More than a year after several consumers sued the maker of Halo Top ice cream for allegedly underfilling its pint containers, the judge in the case has issued a key ruling – and coupons that the company offered to help rectify the problem, may have ended up exacerbating it.

A number of Halo Top customers who had filed separate lawsuits joined together last year to file a class action complaint, accusing the ice cream brand of deliberately offering less-than-full containers, so that “purchasers of the premium-priced ice cream simply have no idea how much ice cream they will get each and every time they buy a Halo Top ‘pint’.” Here’s the Coupons in the News article here – very interesting.

Here’s a little article from Coupons in the News about a Milwaukee Meijer cashier who believed in share and share alike – she would print out a duplicate high-value catalina after first printing one for the customer.  Wouldn’t the system flag one as having already been redeemed?  Unless they all have the same number as store coupons…

If you like your grocery shopping routine just the way it is, don’t get too comfortable. A new report says the way we get our groceries will undergo major changes over the next decade. Online grocery shopping will “fundamentally alter” your local store. Supersized stores may shrink to become “small-format, convenience-oriented” destinations. And “the grocery checkout line will disappear within 10 years.”
