Who doesn’t like coupons? Well, certain lawmakers don’t, it seems. Because it turns out that offering coupons for some products is against the law.

A car dealer in Illinois is accused of offering “illegal coupons” in a lawsuit filed by the state Attorney General, who says its advertised discounts are part of a pattern of deceptive, prohibited marketing schemes.  Why are there so many stupid laws on the Illinois books?  Although I’m readying some cozy mysteries set in Indiana and boy, they have some doozies 🙂

Our long national coupon nightmare – such as it was – is finally over.

BJ’s Wholesale Club, the first and only major retailer to suspend the acceptance of paper coupons during the coronavirus pandemic, will once again take your printed coupons in its stores. So, were it not for the fact that good coupons are scarce lately, prices have risen and, oh yes, we’re in the middle of a global pandemic – everything is back to normal for couponers again!  Here’s the Coupons in the News article – we don’t have BJ clubs around here, unfortunately.

It’s hard to steal stuff from stores during shutdowns that forced many retailers to close, at a time when few people wanted to go out shopping anyway. But now that things are opening up again – will the stealing resume along with the shopping?  Here’s the Coupons in the News article.

If you have T-Mobile (and now Sprint) phone service, they offer T-Mobile Tuesdays, where you get free stuff through their APP (also online).  Add the APP, then view your deals on the Home screen and tap SAVE to add them to Your Stuff.  Various dates to redeem once added.  They also offer weekly gas discounts but freebies are the best 🙂  This week offers a $2 Baskin Robbins promo card (also for Dunkin’) and a free 1-night disc rental at redbox.

Fewer of us are doing nearly as much grocery shopping as we once did – but that may change at a moment’s notice. And that could mean crowded stores, panicked shoppers and empty shelves all over again.

The sales and marketing company Acosta has released the last two reports in a series about our grocery shopping habits during the coronavirus pandemic. One of its reports finds that we’re still being cautious about grocery shopping, by buying more in fewer trips. And a followup report finds we’re poised to buy a lot more and make far fewer trips, by building up a pandemic stockpile all over again if things start to get worse.  Here’s the Coupons in the News article.
