Goldstar has tickets to the August 30th Billy Corgan Concert to Benefit Student Orchestras at Ravinia Park. Billy Corgan, of the legendary rock group The Smashing Pumpkins (known for anthems like “Today,” “Tonight, Tonight,” “1979” and “Bullet With Butterfly Wings”), is making his Ravinia debut and you have a chance to experience it while helping out students — this exclusive offer benefits Ravinia Festival’s REACH*TEACH*PLAY education programs. Corgan, in addition to continuing to write and perform as The Smashing Pumpkins, has also been a member of Zwan and produced solo recordings. An iconic figure in modern rock, Corgan maintains much of the musical verve that catapulted him to stardom. Joining him on the bill is Australian singer-songwriter, Katie Cole. Fresh off the release of her debut full-length album, Lay It All Down, Cole describes her music as “Americana meets British pop,” with a sound that recalls Colbie Caillat, Sheryl Crow and Fleetwood Mac. The REACH*TEACH*PLAY education programs serve 75,000 Chicagoans annually and include the creation of student orchestras in budget-strapped schools.
