A tale of expensive glasses

IMG_4699PITA is almost half-blind in one eye!  Wondered why she was doing the head-cocked puppy look so frequently; turns out it was to focus the good eye.  Annual doctor visit last week pointed it out, so yesterday we had a visit with the doctor who originally did lazy eye surgery back in 2004.  Who knew a kid could be so lazy!  While one eye is perfect, they’re going to try glasses for two months to see if the “bad” eye can be corrected; otherwise, surgery.  And now the fun starts:

Apparently, the majority of cheap eyeglass places I use and have posted about have an upcharge for prescriptions plus or minus 2.25.  Didn’t want to wait, so drove to Lenscrafters… for clearance deals and one hour processing – – Lenscrafters closed its Chicago labs and farms out all work to Atlanta.  Had I known it would be a week (same as Costco!) to get the glasses, I would have gone ahead with the incredible clearance deals – they start at $15! – at Optical4Less!  I went through the entire ordering process until I found out I’d have to wait a week or two (less with priority service).  Optical4Less did not have an upcharge for the higher prescription, btw.  Plastic Frame P178 was the one all picked out for $19 for frame and lenses with $8 shipping since I was only buying one pair (2 pairs means free shipping).main1_ss

Hey, if Pita only has one bad eye, do I call her 3 Eyes?
