I’m posting this for FirstBorn…why I don’t know ’cause he never reads this blog. Shortly before he started working in the real world, he decided – pretty much on the spur of the moment – to drive up to Galena and tour Grant’s home and museum! Yeah, that’s just about what I thought, too. But he was blown away by how beautiful the countryside was, with the rolling hills and all. He made a point of saying that he’d like to drive up there again (and maybe even spend more than a few hours!). So, FirstBorn, this one’s for you:
Stay at Chestnut Mountain Resort in Galena, IL for two, with dates into September. Up to four kids 6 or younger stay free – $59 a night for a Standard 2-Queen Room! Frankly, if you have four kids under 6, you’d better use the two separate beds…
From the top of its namesake 1,020-foot peak, you can see clear through to two other states: Iowa and Wisconsin.
