Hyundai Portable Inverter Generator With 1000W Peak Power, 1.4HP Motor, 120V AC & 12V DC Outlet is only $299.99 (list $899.99).  If you don’t have a generator for back-up power, you are asking for trouble.  The latest government report on Com Ed reveals an infrastructure using poles from the 50’s and 60’s with some equipment almost as old and they tell us that smart grids will help?  Not with stupid and greedy management, it won’t.  And yes, we have a generator (and paid considerably more during a summer county-wide outage).
