Stopped at the Lombard Target to scope “things” out and saw this end cooler filled with holiday flavors of Coffeemate reduced to only 97¢. Regular price is $2.20. Pay attention, there will be a quiz… Four million crammed into lines of unbelievable length…so left and came home. After supper I decided to hit up the Warrenville SuperTarget to see what I could see.
What I see is a bunch of cloud-cuckoo pricing: Signs on the cooler saying $1.25, bottles tagged at $2.30 and scanning at $1.99 for a bottle that had the same $2.20 shelf tag as the Lombard store! What to do? I went up to Guest Services with my four measly bottles and explained. She rang up the four at $1.25 explaining that different areas reduce items differently…which makes the SuperTarget the high-rent district apparently!
There is a $1/1 printable a 55¢/1 and 75¢/2. So you can either score free or greatly reduced Coffeemate, depending on where you shop. I will say that the Lombard store only seemed to have the Peppermint ones in regular and sugar-free (?) varieties. yuck. The SuperTarget had Pumpkin Spice and Egg Nog Latte, among others.
While there I happened to “notice” that the Planters Nut-rition jars had $1 peelies on them. Notice the use of past tense. Take ’em over to any Dollar Tree for free Planters! (don’t bother checking Lombard or Warrenville…just sayin’).
I did see these AXE gift sets clearanced out at ….drum roll, please…$8.48 for a $9.99 retail price. It is to laugh. But if you’ve given up on Walgreens, you might as well use that $3.75 from 12/02 S on something useful, since it expires in 3 days (or 33 days if you shop Ultra). While there, I saw a couple checking out the various sets. They told me that they had been at the front door when Walgreens opened and had seen the employees removing the Axe gift sets from the shelf and breaking them down “as per instructions from corporate.” They laughed and said that their daughter works for Walgreens and her employee discount is so pitiful and their prices so high that the Target and Walmart prices are lower without a discount! I ended up giving them a bunch of those coupons.
Speaking of Walgreens, their Facebook page this afternoon advised that starting tomorrow, they will be putting those Axe gift sets on 50% clearance. Of course, by then there shouldn’t be any still available. And if there are any available, corporate will know that this is one store that doesn’t follow orders. Either way the customers lose. Oh, wait, what customers? hahahahahahaha
