When published in 1982, George Bernard Shaw’s Widowers’ Houses was considered to be a scathing, hilarious satire on the then-timely topic of slumlords making money for wealthy investors. The work still holds up to this day, and the ShawChicago Theater Company will bring it to life again with this staged reading that captures the intensity, humor and social import of Shaw’s words thanks to a stellar cast of actors.

As their relationship becomes ever more complicated and entangled, Joe finds himself in over his head with no way out of the situation he has created with his greed. The original Broadway production claimed seven Tony Awards in 1995 including Best Musical, and features memorable songs such as “With One Look” and “As If We Never Said Goodbye.”

The Bucks host their Midwestern rivals, the defending Eastern Conference regular-season champion Chicago Bulls, at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. The Bucks are led this season by high-scoring guards Brandon Jennings, an exciting young star who began his career in Milwaukee, and Monta Ellis, a veteran of seven seasons with the Golden State Warriors who joined the team in a 2012 trade. They’ll be facing off against a Bulls team that has become known around the league for its swarming defense and unpredictable, effective offensive game. Lifeline Theatre presents The Mystery of the Pirate Ghost, a swashbuckling whodunnit for all ages. A burglar is on the loose in Boogle Bay and the residents suspect the ghost of the infamous pirate Blackeye Doodle. Hungry for adventure, young Otto and Uncle Tooth set out to capture the thief and recover everyone’s stolen goods. As usual, all is not as it seems. In order to solve the mystery, Otto must reach out to a troubled outsider and teach him the value of honesty and hard work. This heartwarming adventure is entertaining for children of all ages and filled with music, adventure and spooky fun.
