Dueling tax preparation deals

Taxes.  Ugh, well, if you have to pay them, at least get a deal on the software and/or filing, right? H&R Block 2012 allows you to complete your federal tax return using their online product for free. State returns are an additional fee.

With TurboTax, you’ll get your biggest tax refund guaranteed, with 100% accurate calculations and free help and step by step guidance so you are confident your taxes are done right. • TurboTax Federal Free Edition • #1 Rated, Best-Selling tax software brand year after year • FREE preparation, FREE printing, FREE efiling for your simple tax return (when referring to TurboTax Federal Free Edition) • Easily get your biggest tax refund possible, guaranteed* • Free Audit Support Center and live online help • Guides you like a GPS through your simple tax return (when referring to TurboTax Federal Free Edition)

Obviously, the more complicated your return (life) is, the more likely it is you’ll be using the Deluxe packages of both these products.  Both H&R Block and TurboTax have been around for years and do a fine job for very little money, compared to walk-in tax preparation stores.  It’s a personal decision with which one you feel more comfortable (templates, etc.) – I don’t think you can go wrong with either, frankly.

End of the month deals

The Nielsen Home Scan Consumer Panel is still accepting new panelists.  This is one I’ve belonged to for years (Rachel says it’s just to skewer their results for grocery shopping … she may be right).  It’s easy and they pay you in points that buy “stuff.”  And we all know how much I love stuff…

Chili’s Free Chips & Queso. If you have Chili’s in your holiday plans, join now. You get free queso and chips right off the bat and other deals throughout the year.

Okay, I don’t know exactly how this will all work (especially the paying me to be organized part), but if you give them your email, you will be contacted when they launch this program in 2012, and you will also be entered into a Kindle Fire giveaway.

UPS – My Choice

I signed up for the UPS – My Choice service when I first posted it.  So far it’s worked, keeping me informed that THEY ARE CHANGING MY DELIVERY time from one set of hours to another.  Then another email to inform me that they can’t find my address.  Then another email that they are working to resolve the can’t find my address issue and will reschedule the delivery time.  Then another email…well, you get the point.  In point of fact, the delivery is the Heinz deal from a week or so ago and it appears that Heinz cut off the street address.

And yes, it’s a pain ’cause of the delivery problem, but at least I know exactly what is going on every step of the way and I have the ability to change the delivery address if I will be somewhere else at day/time.  I like it.

Nielsen Home Scan – open only through the 18th

This is one of the survey sites to which I’ve belonged for a few years.  Nielsen (national consumer panel) offers surveys and, if you are accepted into the Nielsen Home Scan program, a hand-held scanner to scan your purchases.  Once a week you transfer the info via phone and that’s it!  You earn points for each survey and weekly scan which accumulate quickly – quickly enough to get some great gift cards.  They’re legitimate, been around forever.  And extreme couponing must really blow their bell curve.  Why yes, I purchased 840 bottles of liquids this week and 300 cans of iced coffee last week.  You mean that’s not normal!?

AFullCup – Black Friday Guide.

Check out all the ads and deals for Black Friday @ AFullCup.com.   They also have some direct links to discussions forums about BF deals for Walgreen’s, CVS, Target, Walmart and others.  This link leads to the page with all the urls for tons of stores.  Pretty great site, actually, if you’ve never before used them.

Note, you do not need to register to see the deals, although they’d like you to…
